NFP Methods

Various methods of NFP are available depending on a couple’s interests and circumstances:

Marquette University College of Nursing Institute for NFP

Teachers are allied health professionals.  Clients learn a sympto-thermal method where measurement of the woman’s waking temperature and other biological signs of fertility serve as a cross-check for cervical fluid.  The added feature of electronic hormonal monitoring is available for those who are interested.  Introductions to this method are available throughout the diocese.  In-depth class series are available in the Charlotte area.   All classes are free, including a home study course on CD.  Online education and charting are available.

The Couple to Couple League

Clients learn a sympto-thermal method where measurement of the woman’s waking temperature and other biological signs of fertility serve as a cross-check for cervical fluid.  The League encourages embracing NFP as a lifestyle and provides support for families, including the publication Family Foundations.  CCL courses are available throughout the diocese.  Spanish classes are available in Greensboro.  Charting software is available.

The Billings Ovulation Method

The fertile time is observed by checking the characteristics of cervical fluid.  Classes are available in the Charlotte (English) and Shelby/Gastonia (Spanish) areas.  Online learning/charting in over 15 languages and an iPhone charting application are available.

The Creighton Model FertilityCare System (CrMS)

This method focuses on checking the characteristics of cervical fluid.  CrMS teachers are allied health professionals.  There is a special emphasis on monitoring and maintaining procreative and gynecologic health.  This method is associated with the science of naprotechnology, which has provided for medical and surgical treatments that cooperate completely with the reproductive system.  Couples who are having problems achieving pregnancy may find this method especially helpful.  Classes are available in Charlotte, Concord, and Salisbury with Medical Consultants in Concord, Shelby, and Durham.
