In 1990, Casa Guadalupe was created as an outreach program of Catholic Social Services to serve the fast growing Hispanic/Latino population of the Piedmont Triad area. Casa Guadalupe was established in response to both the unmet social services needs of the Hispanic population and the difficulty they have in accessing existing services in Forsyth and adjacent counties.
In 1998, with the help of a venture grant with the United Way of Greater Greensboro, a satellite office in the downtown area opened and began offering general services.
Also, in 1998 we received Recognition by the BIA (Board of Immigration) as well as Accreditation for two employees to handle client cases up and including representation at the local BCIS office and Immigration court. We have made great progress in maintaining high standards of training and clerical tools.
In 2003, Casa Guadalupe became an Acceptance agent with the IRS to provide a more efficient service with regard to the filing of the W-7 form.
We are an unduplicated service that seeks to take the lead in providing direct services. As the Hispanic/Latino community meets the challenges of life, Casa Guadalupe is the strength needed to address personal growth and economic development.
