Catholic Social Services (CSS) is a non-profit social service organization sponsored by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte. Begun in 1948 as a ministry of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Raleigh, and part of the Diocese of Charlotte since 1973, CSS offers an array of services including domestic adoption, international adoption, pregnancy support, counseling, Hispanic services, immigration services, brief services, youth services, elder ministry, family life, marriage preparation, refugee resettlement, justice and peace education and advocacy, and economic development.
Services are provided at three regional offices (Asheville, Charlotte, and Winston-Salem), three diocesan-wide offices (Refugee Resettlement, Justice and Peace, Family Life), and four satellite office locations (Greensboro, High Point, Hendersonville, and Murphy).
CSS is accredited by the Council on Accreditation, the domestic adoption program is licensed by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services as a child placing agency, and the international adoption program has achieved Hague Accreditation from the Council on Accreditation.
